I'm Bad at Writing Poetry

I'm no good at writing poetry;

Not very good at rhyming.

It's all about the syllables

Emotion, and the timing.

But the beats are always all messed up

They never are the same.

Emotions should be deep or soaring!

Yet come off feeling lame.

I was told, 'Try to write a poem.'

But I don't know what to do.

I had the briefest panicked thought

That I should just write haiku.

But everything I write feels flat.

Where is my inner poet?

I have a lot of creativity

Although no one would ever know it.

I'd better leave the poetry for others,

Those who can write it proper.

I'm no good at writing poetry;

Not in the slightest.
